One of my favorite easy-to-make holiday treats is this marbled dark chocolate peppermint bark! It only has four ingredients, and yet somehow it’s one of the best tasting Christmas candies (and, I think, one of the prettiest, too). This treat works wonderfully for bagging up to give to neighbors, teachers, and any one else with whom you’d like to share some holiday cheer! Read the easy steps below and you’ll be on your way to enjoying a delightful peppermint bark in no time.
Ingredients:
- a box of candy canes
- 4 cups of dark chocolate chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract
- 3 cups of white chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Place the unwrapped candy canes in a ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into smaller crystals and chunks. Then transfer to a medium bowl.
- Melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate separately in two bowls. If you have a double boiler, use this method. Alternatively, heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals until about 85% melted, then stir until fully smooth.
- Add the peppermint extract to the melted dark chocolate and give the mixture a stir.
- Cover a large baking pan with parchment paper, and use a spatula to spread the melted dark chocolate evenly along the sheet.
- Next, use a spoon to add dollops of the white chocolate evenly on top the dark chocolate. Here comes the fun part! Use a toothpick to make swirling designs in the chocolate and create a marble effect!
- Sprinkle the marbled masterpiece with the crushed candy canes before freezing or refrigerating the pan of bark until fully cooled and set.
- When the chocolate has fully hardened, break the peppermint bark into smaller shards and enjoy!
