Everyone watched in disbelief as Joe Exotic battled it out with Carole Baskin back in March, and it’s been tough to find something quite so captivating since then. But don’t worry, we’ve narrowed it down to a list of five of the newest binge-worthy shows on Netflix. If you haven’t checked these out yet, then cancel your evening plans for the rest of the week and make sure your popcorn supply is stocked.

Indian Matchmaking

Released on July 16, this show follows the journeys of various Indian individuals who have asked for the help of a matchmaker in their search for love. Sima, the matchmaker, first meets with each woman or man to learn more about them and their criteria for a mate. Sima then works to match them with someone who she believes would fit their requirements. A series of dates ensue as we all watch in hopes that they will find their soulmate before wedding season arrives!

Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia

Fear City: New York vs The Mafia

In this intense docuseries, FBI agents and old mafia members are interviewed about the investigation of the five mafia families who held the city of New York in their grip in the 1970s and 80s. Viewers are given the inside scoop about the FBI’s tactics, from wire taps to RICO. If you’re interested in the crime/detective genre, this is the show for you.

The Last Dance

This docuseries follows the career of Michael Jordan, the best basketball player to have ever lived. The show brings to light the dynamic between Jordan and his teammates, including Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippin. It discusses the events of Jordan’s father’s death, his multiple retirements, his time as a baseball player, rumors surrounding his gambling habits, and more. Even for those who may not consider themselves to be great fans of basketball, this show offers an interesting view of the pressures of fame.

Hollywood

In this groundbreaking new show, the Hollywood of the 1940s is revived and exposed. The characters of this show will stop at nothing to bring their Hollywood aspirations to life. The struggle of minorities to break through is especially showcased in this fabulously entertaining drama. Immigration Nation

Not for the faint-hearted, Immigration Nation is a docuseries which follows and exposes the practices of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). By digging deeper into the separation of families, as well as the implications of Trump’s “No Tolerance” policy, this shows awakens its viewers to the heart-wrenching realities of immigration in America today.
